Richard Praschnik's career experience includes working as a law enforcement officer. A proud Cuban-American, Richard was born and raised in Miami. He’s not just a candidate – he’s a neighbor, a community member, and a dedicated protector of our schools. His experience as a police officer for the Miami-Dade Schools Police Department gives him a unique perspective on the safety of our children and the security of our neighborhoods – something that can’t be matched by career politicians.

• PUBLIC SAFETY As a seasoned police officer, Richard Praschnik is committed to improving public safety, reducing crime, and fostering a sense of security within our neighborhoods, making Miami-Dade a safer place for all residents.
• RESPONSIBLE ZONING With Richard's role on the Zoning Appeals Board, Richard is committed to responsible zoning, balancing development and preservation to ensure beneficial growth while safeguarding our neighborhoods’ character.
• LOWERING THE COST OF LIVING In Richard's experience as a Chief Operating Officer for a Florida corporation specializing in real estate and rental properties, Richard is committed to lowering tolls fees, reducing gas taxes for residents, lowering property taxes, and ensuring residents can acquire job opportunities within Miami-Dade County.

Currently a law enforcement officer in Miami-Dade County. Also I mange real estate properties outside of Miami-Dade County.

What do you believe are the core responsibilities for someone elected to this office?

The Miami-Dade Board of County Commissioners is the governing body of unincorporated Miami-Dade County and has broad, regional powers to establish policies for Miami-Dade County services. The government provides major metropolitan services countywide and city-type services for residents of unincorporated areas.

Through ordinances and resolutions, the 13-member Commission sets policies and establishes laws for the community. Miami-Dade County is structured into 13 districts. Residents choose only from among candidates running in the district in which they live. Commissioners are chosen in non-partisan, single-district elections and can serve two four-year staggered terms, with elections scheduled every two years.
