Epperson ran in the 2012 election for Tennessee House of Representatives, District 24. Epperson was defeated by incumbent Kevin D. Brooks in the August 2 primary election. Aaron Hyden originally filed, but will not appear on the primary ballot.[1][2]

Epperson favors lower taxes, is pro-life, and pro-gun. On the issue of education reform, he believes, "the Tennessee Education System needs some changes. Students need to be put first. Teachers need to be in charge in the classroom, and parents need to be involved. I have been involved in training in the Nuclear industry for the last thirty years as a student and instructor."[3]
