I am a mother of five, a local Brevard Realtor, and a candidate for BPS School Board District 3. I serve on three School Advisory Councils and a member of the Brevard Children In Need committee.
  • Focusing on our children and their education, not political agendas.
  • Expanding CTE programs and transportation so ALL students can participate and train for their future careers.
  • Expanding VPK programs, early access to literacy is vital in building a strong foundation of a child's education.
Education, housing and transportation policies are of interest to me.
All elected officials should displays basic values such as strong leadership, accountability, transparency, fostering community engagement and trust.
As a mother to five children and a business owner, I have to be organized, have patience, be kind, always willing to listen, be hard working, problem solver, stay motivated, defeat is not an option and be accountable for all of my actions. I have little eyes watching me all the time.
The core responsibilities of a school board member should include, adopting policies, advocate for students, goal setting, annual budget, hiring and evaluating the superintendent, community relations, attend board meetings, curriculum and district policy making to name a few.
For our community to know I care and worked hard to make our schools and community better for our future generations.
The day the Trade Towers fell, I was a fifteen years old and a sophomore in high school. I was in World History class when it happened.
I began working at the age of 14, at a dance apparel store. I worked there for three years.
Wonder Woman, because my girls believe she is a good person and is super cool in their book.
Saying no when asked to help with something. I always find a way to make it happen.
To be an advocate for our schools, listen to their needs and address their concerns.
The community would be my constituents.
Listen to their needs and try to accommodate with the available resources.
Our state needs to provide more funding for our public schools. The voucher program is pulling too much funding away from our public schools and needs to be reevaluated.
By increasing our guidance counselors, social workers and support staff for our teachers and administrators.
The Guardian program is a policy I would like to discontinue. A new policy I would like to implement is acknowledging our public speakers. Speakers feel that their concerns or topics they are addressing fall of deaf ears. They feel as though their input doesn't matter and the decision is already made by the board before they are able to speak. This is a matter that needs to be addressed and a solution must be found. We cannot have our public feeling like they aren't heard.
I haven't asked for any endorsements. In fact, today a few community members sent me endorsement videos without my knowledge of their support. I will ask you visit my Facebook page or website (yantzforschools.com) as their videos will be posted there.
Every child deserves a safe, caring, and respectful environment where they have the ability to achieve academic success.
Always be available. Have an open door policy to listen to parents and students.
Provide adequate pay, hold training sessions, open door policy and ask for feedback on how we can improve.
Financial transparency and government accountability is a must in any elected office.
