Connecticut's Congressional Elections in 2012
U.S. Senate Election? U.S. House seats Possible competitive races?
Yes 5 2

HARTFORD: Connecticut: Connecticut has one U.S. Senate seat and five U.S. House seats on the ballot in 2012. Four of five house incumbents are seeking re-election, and all four face at least one challenger in the general election (100%).

Currently, the Democratic Party holds all five Congressional seats from Connecticut. According to race ratings, no districts are likely to flip from Democratic to Republican control. However, the 5th District will likely produce the closest race, in an open seat contest between Elizabeth Esty (D) and Andrew Roraback (R).

In Connecticut, all polling places will be open from 6:00 AM to 8:00 PM, Eastern Time on election day.[1]

U.S. Senate

Connecticut has one U.S. Senate seat on the ballot in 2012. The seat is open following incumbent Joe Lieberman's decision not to seek re-election. Polls have shown a tight race between Democrat Chris Murphy and Republican Linda McMahon. McMahon has contributed more than $42 million of her own money to her campaign. Two years ago she was defeated by Richard Blumenthal, 52-43 percent.

U.S. House

One of Connecticut's five districts is considered to be competitive in 2012 according to the New York Times race ratings, District 5.[2][3]

Connecticut's 5th Congressional District is considered to be a toss-up. Democratic candidate Elizabeth Esty -- who defeated the Party endorsed candidate, Chris Donovan, in the Democratic primary -- faces Republican Andrew Roraback in a battle for the open seat left by Christopher S. Murphy's decision to run for U.S. Senate.
