This week's question was How many U.S. House members sought other offices in 2022?

You answered: 17.
You are correct!

Seventeen U.S. House members—nine Democrats and eight Republicans—sought other offices in 2022. That's an increase from 2020, when 14 did so, but down from 21 in 2018.

Of that total, five won election to a new office, eight were defeated in primaries, and four won their primaries but lost in the general election.

The table below lists the U.S. House members who ran for another office in 2022, and the outcome of that election.
