Campaign website
Rau's campaign website stated the following:
Conservative values and platform
I am dedicated to upholding the conservative values that Oconomowoc deserves. I will focus on responsible governance, community strength, and preserving the principles that make Oconomowoc a great place to live. Having been a small business owner for over 20 years I will be able to make decisions to achieve the goals of our community, such as bathroom locations that won't obstruct our favorite views of Fowler Lake. Or not approving projects that our community is not in favor of, especially if that project can only be approved by manipulating current ratios of homes to apartments. I do want to see our city grow but in a way that won't cause us to lose our small town feel. One Oconomowoc will be proud of and another project be built just because there is open space. I might not be well known in our community, but I have learned from meeting residents of district 3 that many do not want another project done that does not keep our cities best interest as a guide.
Traffic
Many people in our district are concerned with the number of accidents on Highway 67 near the intersections between Kwik Trip and Metro Market. Some believe that as traffic increases with more businesses coming to the area that more accidents will be a regular occurrence. I would look into speaking with the local police department and the Oconomowoc Department of Public Works and WisDOT to see if there are any options that could decrease the frequency of accidents occurring in those areas.
Fiscal Responsibility
As Alderman I will be dedicated to fostering a strong, connected community through local initiatives and resident involvement. Keeping the residents in mind during the approval of the city budget, projects that could impact tax rates to our city and having as much community interaction throughout these decisions.
Future City Projects.
I am focused on maintaining Oconomowoc's unique heritage and time-honored traditions for future generations. My goal as Alderman is to be a part of approving ideas that best suits both our City and our residents that maintains our small town feel but also attracts residents to the area to build their families future here.
