A California Secret Abortions Initiative (Initiative #15-0040) was not put on the November 8, 2016, ballot for voters in California as an an initiated constitutional amendment.[1][2]
Path to the ballot

- Stephen Hicks submitted a letter requesting a title and summary on July 17, 2015.
- A title and summary were to be issued by California's attorney general by September 15, 2015.
- Once the title and summary were prepared, 585,407 valid signatures were required for qualification purposes.
- Supporters had 150 days from the date that the title and summary were issued to collect the required signatures.
- The California secretary of state announced the measure had failed to qualify for the ballot on March 28, 2016.
