I believe that public schools, like CFB ISD have the responsibility of serving the needs of all children. My passion comes from my own career in education. I was a middle school math teacher and an elementary math specialist. I saw the impact that high quality professional development and instructional design had when I was working in Carrollton Farmers Branch ISD. I continue to work in education as a Research Project Manager at a local university. My role is to design, implement, and manage the budget of multiple STEM education research projects. Additionally, I have taught future mathematics teachers and school administrators as an adjunct lecturer. I have a masters degree in school administration with a specialization in conflict resolution. My family moved to CFB because my experience as an educator in CFB ISD gave me confidence that I could trust the quality of education my children would receive. I have lived in the district for 5 years. I have two children that go to a CFB ISD elementary school and one of them is receiving services under 504 accommodations. I have served at my children's elementary school as an active volunteer on the PTA and member of the Campus Improvement Committee. I also serve on the District Improvement Committee. Serving as a school trustee is a way I can continue to support our children, our community, and our future.
  • I believe it is essential that we maintain research and evidence based decision making. As we envision our future, I recognize the value in rich programming that has research and evidence behind it. Recognizing that stewardship of taxpayer dollars is the expectation.

  • I believe we must provide opportunities for teacher/staff leadership and growth. High quality teachers and staff are the result of job embedded professional development and systems for success. As we think about our children, I believe the growth mindset of each individual has an impact on the quality of education our children receive.
  • I believe that community engagement to support a culture of lifelong learning in our students is essential. CFB has a unique combination of multiple municipalities, types of families, and businesses. The district, administrators, teachers, and staff building connections with the community and parents is essential.
I have a strong interest in two areas of policy related to education. The first one is policies that support equitable environments for students with disabilities. The inequities that students with disabilities face in education is something that must be safeguarded with policies that are carefully monitored and evaluated. My second area of policy that I am passionate about is the use of assessment in education. I believe that assessments should be designed and evaluated frequently to ensure reliability. I also believe that assessments should be used multiple times a year for ongoing progress monitoring providing support to teachers as they design instructional groups to meet individual student needs. In the design of these progress monitoring assessments, I believe that teachers should be actively involved in the usability and feasibility testing of the assessment and the reports.
