Cathy Stepp
Cathy Stepp is a former Wisconsin Secretary of Natural Resources. She began served in that position in 2011. Stepp was first appointed to the office by Gov. Scott Walker (R) in December 2010.[1][2] She resigned in 2017 to join the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.[3]
Biography
Stepp was born in Kenosha, Wisconsin. She and her husband own a construction business.[4] She served in the Wisconsin State Senate from 2003-2007, has been Vice President at Magnum Truck and Equipment, Inc., and worked with the Wisconsin Builders' Association, National Association of Home Builders and other local builders' groups.[5]

Stepp has served as Wisconsin Secretary of Natural Resources since January 2011.
Wisconsin State Senate (2003-2007)
In 2002, Stepp successfully challenged Democratic State Senator Kim Plache for Plache's State Senate seat.[6] Stepp represented District 21 in the Wisconsin State Senate from 2003 to 2007. She co-chaired the Environmental and Natural Resources Committee.[5] Stepp chose not to run for re-election in 2006.[4]

Stepp was appointed as Wisconsin Secretary of Natural Resources by Gov. Scott Walker (R) in December 2010. She stated, "I will work tirelessly with the incoming administration to find innovative ways to protect Wisconsin's valuable natural resources, improve the overall permitting process, and embark on a top to bottom review of current regulations, all while focusing on growing our state's economy."[5]
