My wife, Lesley, and I are 20+ year residents of Stillwater. One of our sons is a freshman in college and the other is a freshman at Stillwater Area High School. I was appointed to fill a vacancy on the school board in April 2023 and am running to fill the remainder of the 4 year term. The current school board has created stability from chaos, hired a well-qualified superintendent and built a high-functioning team to lead the district. I want to continue to support those efforts while looking for ways to improve academic achievement and prepare for the growth that we will experience in the coming decade.
  • The first duty of a school district is to educate students. Everything we do from hiring teachers to building new facilities is in support of that.
  • Every student should feel welcome in our schools and we need to create environments where they can thrive. Our diversity should be celebrated. We are a stronger community when we embrace the individuality of our students.
  • Our future as a district is bright. We have a new focus on reading fundamentals, a growing population and a group of administrators and educators dedicated to our students' success.
Public education, when properly executed, can help our children develop a curiosity and wonder that will propel them into the future. School shouldn't just be something that a student has to endure - it should be the foundation for them to reach their full potential. I am not a teacher but I want to do my part to create opportunities for all of our children.
The most important role of a school board member is that of communicator. We are a conduit for information flowing to and from both the community and our schools. Eventually that information becomes the basis for the decisions we make to move forward together/
Everyone in the school district. We are all impacted by the quality of the education we provide.
I have been endorsed by the St Croix Education Association Teachers Union, St Croix Paraprofessional Association, International Union of Operating Engineers and the St Paul Regional Labor Federation.
