I am a conservative, a veteran, retired Air Force, a parent and a grandparent. I graduated from the USAF Academy in 1989, one of the early classes that included women. I spent 25 years in the Air Force, and moved here in 2011 to be the Director of Financial Management in Eglin’s Air Armament Center. I retired as a Colonel in 2014. During my AF time I was the leader, Commander, the boss, of organizations of all sizes. My specialty was and still is budgeting, fraud prevention and financial management. I have drawn on this expertise many times in the last ten years in Valparaiso. In the last 10 years I’ve pulled about $1M from other sources to improve drainage and paving around Valp. This coming year you’ll see the culmination of my latest project to asphalt the streets behind Lewis School
  • Smart, Responsible Growth!

Protect the small-town feel that makes Valp special while ensuring long-term planning—not short-term urgency. Do important things, not just the easy ones. Deliberate planning for the future means updating our plans and ordinances, funding engineering studies for shovel-ready projects that poise us to take advantage of outside funding sources.

Prepare for hurricane season, and make plans for dealing with the worst case scenario.
  • Transparent, Accountable City Government Use new technologies and public outreach to explain decisions clearly and show how we use taxpayer dollars wisely . Modernize city outreach, increase opportunities for citizen input.
  • Seek funding sources other than property taxes. Active pursuit of grants to improve Valp.'s aging infrastructure. Voters might not realize the water, storm drain, and sewer pipes in the ground are old.
I care about the economy and its effect on citizens. I want more job opportunities so young people can get their careers started. Right now our economy appears sound, but the core is rotten.--jobs growth is in the minimum wage sector and that isn't helping young people. By drawing more businesses into Valp, we can improve opportunities.
