I am a graduate of St. Paul Public Schools (SPPS) and my wife and I have two daughters that attend SPPS. I have extensive experience in advocating for public education in St. paul and beyond. I was a founding member and three time president our our daughters' school PTO. I have served on the SPPS Budget Finance Advisory Committee as a citizen representative, where I provided input into the SPPS budget process. I was chosen to serve on a SPPS/St. Paul Federation of Educators (SPFE) committee to study and make specific recommendations concerning our district's increased segregation. I have worked with SPFE to address corporate and non profit tax issues within the state of MN and the city of St. Paul. I have formed a grassroots organization named Parents for St. Paul Schools, to advocate for a charter school moratorium in the city of St. Paul. This is just a brief description of my advocacy over the years. As mentioned above my wife and I have two daughters and a naughty husky named Sugar. In out free time we love to explore our beautiful metropolitan area, we love all things Frida Kahlo, and out favorite sports team is the MN Golden Gophers Women's hockey team. My favorite role besides dad and husband is a hockey coach to my daughters and a bunch of other amazing girls.
  • Enrollment losses are crippling our district, it is urgent we stop these losses.
  • Equity remains a buzzword but no progress has been made. I have plans that will change that.
  • The financial position of our school district is not good due to our declining enrollment and our lack of investment from the state and federal governments.
Public education. The system of public education in our country and city are under attack. We need to redefine what role public education should play in our city and if we want it to be available to all of our school aged children. We then need to make decisions based on that consensus and invest in the future of public education, our children, and the future of our community.
