The Colorado State Employee Amendment did not make the 2012 ballot in the state of Colorado as a legislatively referred constitutional amendment. The measure would have allowed the state to hire residents of neighboring states who lived near the state border, allowed temporary workers to keep their jobs for a longer amount of time and would have increased the number of finalists considered for open jobs.[1]
Path to the ballot
Two-thirds of each chamber of the Colorado General Assembly must vote affirmatively for a proposed amendment in order for it to go on the statewide ballot for potential voter ratification.
The measure was approved by the Colorado State Senate on May 1, 2012, sending it to the Colorado House of Representatives for a similar vote.[1]
