Four seats on the Cullman County Schools Board of Education were up for general election on November 4, 2014. No partisan primary election was held as no more than one candidate ran for any political party in each district.
Incumbents Chris Carter (R), Kenny Brockman (R) and Jason Clyde Speegle (R) ran unopposed and won re-election to the District 2, 4 and 7 seats, respectively. Randy Hasenbein (D), the District 6 incumbent, lost his seat to challenger Mike Graves (R).

Cullman County Schools is located in Cullman County, Alabama. Cullman County is home to 80,811 residents, according to the United States Census Bureau.[1] Cullman County Schools served 9,678 students during the 2011-2012 school year.[2] This district was the 15th-largest by enrollment in the state of Alabama.
Demographics
Cullman County underperformed the rest of Alabama in terms of higher education achievement in 2012. The United States Census Bureau found that 14.2 percent of Cullman County residents aged 25 years and older had attained a bachelor's degree compared to 22.3 percent for Alabama as a whole. The median household income in Cullman County was $39,244 compared to $43,160 for the state of Alabama. The poverty rate in Cullman County was 18.6 percent compared to 18.1 percent for the entire state.[1]

Voter and candidate information
The Cullman County Schools Board of Education consists of seven members elected to four-year terms by geographic electoral districts. There was no primary election, and the general election was held on November 4, 2014. Four seats were on the ballot in 2014.[4]
The filing deadline for school board candidates to get on the ballot in the general election was February 7, 2014.[5]

Alabamans also voted in statewide races for governor, lieutenant governor, attorney general, secretary of state, state treasurer, state auditor, commissioner of agriculture and industries, public service commissioners and five constitutional amendments on November 4, 2014. The ballot also saw races for state senate, house of representatives and judicial seats. Seats for U.S. Senator and U.S. Representatives, as well as local offices and a local constitutional amendment rounded out the ballot.[8]
