Campaign themes

2014

Peiser's campaign website listed the following issues:[3]

  • Education: "Our economy has changed. Many jobs are gone forever. But there are millions of new opportunities that have become available if only we have the training and knowledge to take advantage of these. We need to start by making college affordable to those who strive in that direction, and work toward eliminating the need to take loans in order to attain a higher level of education."
  • Energy, Jobs, and the Environment: "Our country needs to embark on an “Apollo-like” Mission to convert all energy generation and transportation to renewable sources by 2029. Climate change is real, it is primarily caused by humans, and we need to both reduce its impact as quickly as possible, and put in place strategies and policies to deal with its impacts."
  • Healthcare and our Social Support System: "As our economy has changed from an “employment for life” expectation to the free agent culture of today, it has become necessary that a safety net be put in place so that all residents of the United States are able to live with proper nutrition, adequate healthcare, and support for career change, especially when jobs and industries disappear."
  • Honoring our Veterans and Military Personnel: "Keeping America's promise to our nation's veterans means so much more than speeches on Memorial Day. It means fighting every day to fulfill promises on healthcare, education and benefits. Dave is fully committed to taking a leadership role in continued full funding for the VA, and in expediting the delivery of benefits that have been delayed due to the backlog."
  • Immigration Reform: "Immigration is an issue that especially impacts our region. The Congressional Budget Office, a nonpartisan organization, confirmed comprehensive immigration reform holds the potential for economic growth and job creation that will benefit all Americans."
