In his 2016 candidate statement of qualifications, Chey listed the following goals:

I will seek to preserve undeveloped natural areas, maintenance of a healthy living environment, and slow growth.

To ensure and observe all rights protected by the U.S. Constitution.

To create a city-run bank to make loans in the community to small, local businesses that would innovate to help people and recycle a larger share of earnings back into the local economy and enrich the whole community.

To seek to reduce and or keep taxes to a minimum.

And, I would seek justice against predatory businesses by seeking to bring enforcement action by the city attorney’s office.[2][3]
