Candidate Connection

David Lopez completed Ballotpedia's Candidate Connection survey in 2019. The survey questions appear in bold and are followed by Lopez's responses.

What would be your top three priorities, if elected?

We must focus on the ongoing homeless epidemic, public safety, and at risk youth group intervention.

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

We must address and bring powerful solutions to those 6,500 individuals who are left destitute and without a roof over their head. We must respect them and value them, but ensure that their struggles are seen and resolved for those who want it. Everyone is equal and should have a fighting chance at success and stability.

Who do you look up to? Whose example would you like to follow, and why?

I look up to genuine public servants and those who make the public's concerns their top priority. Lyndon Johnson, Franklin Roosevelt, and John F. Kennedy.

What characteristics or principles are most important for an elected official?

The ability to listen, consider, and act. We must become as accessible and engaging as possible. To be an active participant in local government and neighborhood issues. To respect and honor your city.

What qualities do you possess that you believe would make you a successful officeholder?

As a former city park commissioner, public servant for over 10 years, and current city employee, I know full well the needs, what works, what doesn't, and what should be done to expedite service requests, and the needs of the public. Bureaucracy yes, but hidden paths to faster service are available to those who know where they are.

What legacy would you like to leave?

Win or lose, my legacy doesn't end here. I will continue to work hard and without hesitation to bring service and solutions to the people we represent.
