Delores J. Thomas
Delores J. Thomas was a judge of the New York Supreme Court 2nd Judicial District. She assumed office in 2007.
Thomas (Democratic Party, Republican Party, Conservative Party) ran for re-election for judge of the New York Supreme Court 2nd Judicial District. She won in the general election on November 3, 2020.
Biography
Education
Thomas received her B.A. from Alabama State University and her J.D. from the University of Georgia School of Law.[1][2]
Career
Thomas began her career in 1978 as a senior staff attorney specialist for Brooklyn Legal Services Corp. She worked in this capacity until her judicial career in 1994. She also worked as an administrative law judge for the New York City Parking Violations Bureau from 1987 to 1994. From 1987 to 1990, she was the president and organizer of the Legal Services Staff Association (of the National Organization of Legal Services Workers NOLSW), District 65, UAW. She was the Immigration Unit Director of Brooklyn Legal Services Corp A. from 1988 to 1990.
Thomas' judicial career began in 1994 when she became a housing court judge for the New York City Civil Court of Kings County. She became a civil court judge in Kings County in 2003 and was then elected to the supreme court in 2007.[1]
