Dennis M. McGuire was a judge for the 11th Subcircuit of the Cook County Judicial Circuit Court in Illinois. He assumed office in 2002. He left office on December 6, 2020.

McGuire ran for re-election for the 11th Subcircuit judge of the Cook County Judicial Circuit Court in Illinois. He did not appear on the ballot for the retention election on November 3, 2020.

Education

McGuire attended DePaul University on a basketball scholarship, graduating in 1981. He later earned his J.D. there in 1985.[1][2]

During the 2002 election, McGuire's former basketball coach Ray Meyer joked,

Put Dennis on the bench—I did.[2][3]

Career

Prior to his judicial election in 2002, McGuire gained experience as a law clerk in the state's attorney's office and later as an attorney.[2]

Incumbent Dennis M. McGuire withdrew on August 31, 2020, before his retention election scheduled for November 3, 2020.[4]

2014

McGuire was retained to the Cook County 11th Subcircuit with 75.7 percent of the vote on November 4, 2014. [5] 

Evaluations

The Illinois State Bar Association rated Dennis M. McGuire as Recommended for retention in 2014.[6]
