I’m a 25 year resident of Fremont. My husband and I have raised three children who are all FUSD graduates. I have served on the FUSD Board for four years. During my first term, I helped to bring new leadership to the district, diversified our core and supplemental novels list, adopted a social emotional learning curriculum for all students, offered a robust virtual learning program during closures, and transitioned back to safe in-person instruction. I’m currently serving as Board President and am a delegate to the CSBA.

Prior to serving on the board, I was a substitute teacher and served on FUDTA’s Human Rights and Equity Committee. I have 15 years of volunteer experience in FUSD serving on committees as both a community member and trustee including the Facilities, Technology, and Special Education Advisory Committees. I’ve served as PTA President, Council Health and Safety Chair, and Council Legislative Advocacy Chair.

If re-elected, I pledge to continue working to 1) support our students' academic and social/emotional growth as we recover from the pandemic 2) attract and retain highly qualified educators, support staff, and administrators, and 3) modernize our facilities for 21st century learning. https://diannejonesforeverystudent.com/

  • I will continue to support students' academic and social emotional growth as we recover from the pandemic by adopting robust curriculum and expanding mental health supports.
  • I will work to attract and retain highly qualified teachers, support staff, and administrators to FUSD by working with legislators to properly fund public education so we can offer salaries and benefits our educators deserve.
  • I will work to modernize FUSD facilities for 21st century learning with a focus on improving our HVAC systems, upgrading our technology infrastructure, and improving our sports facilities and fields.
Public education is the foundation of a thriving democracy. Nationwide shortages of education professionals and aging facilities indicate public education is in crisis. FUSD needs trustees on our board during this challenging time who have experience with legislative advocacy. I have built strong relationships with our State and Federal legislators to advocate for policies and funding that will benefit our students and education staff statewide. I have a deep understanding of our complex budget and have demonstrated sound decision making both in times of severe budget cuts and allocation of additional resources from the State and Federal Government with an eye toward long range fiscal health. I want to ensure that every student's needs are met in our district and is able to pursue their goals after graduation. I'm proud to have been an FUSD parent and look forward to continuing to serve the community.
