I was born and raised in Grant County, and I’ve made my life here as a father, community member, and small business owner. Having grown up in this district and now raising my own children here, I understand the importance of strong schools, supportive teachers, and giving students every opportunity to succeed.

I believe our students must come first, with parents and teachers as equal partners in shaping their education. Too often, families feel pushed aside or unheard in the decisions that affect their children’s future. As a school board member, I will work to restore accountability, increase transparency, and make sure every parent and student has a seat at the table.

My goal is to put kids at the center of every decision while supporting the teachers who dedicate themselves to their success. I will stand up for fairness, for honest communication, and for the community values that make Grant County strong. Together, we can make our schools a place where every student feels supported, safe, and prepared for the future.
  • Put students first in every decision. Empower parents as true partners. Support teachers with what

works. Restore trust through transparency and zero-tolerance for waste, favoritism, or closed-door

    dealings.
  • Adopt a district wide parent-engagement standard (clear communication timelines, family-friendly meeting times, and bilingual notices). Model on Title I best practices that require parents to help shape school plans—not just receive them.
  • Stabilize leadership and keep politics out of classrooms. Ensure fair, transparent pay structures and professional development tied to student outcomes; bring proposals to open session and publish comparisons before votes.
Protect student programs amid funding uncertainties by scenario-budgeting in public and prioritizing

classroom dollars. Respect local calendar needs while complying with statewide rules and court

decisions. Champion Native and othe
I look up to people who serve their communities with integrity and compassion. For me, that has always included mentors who quietly lead by example—whether in work, family, or community life. I strive to follow their example by listening first, treating people with respect, and making decisions that serve the greater good rather than personal gain.
An elected official must be honest, transparent, and accountable. Integrity is non-negotiable—decisions should always be made in the open and based on what is best for students. Listening before acting, respecting community input, and keeping promises are the principles I value most.
The core responsibility of a school board member is to ensure that every decision—budget, policy, or program—puts students first. That means adopting sound policies, approving transparent budgets, and holding the superintendent accountable for results while also being accessible to parents and the community.
I want to leave a legacy of being someone who stood up for children and families, who worked to make schools stronger, and who restored trust in leadership. If my kids and others in the community can look back and say that I made a positive difference in their education and opportunities, that would be enough.
The first major historical event I remember was the Gulf War in the early 1990s. I was still a child, but I remember seeing the images on television and realizing for the first time that events happening far away could impact families and communities everywhere.
My first job was working as a busser at a local restaurant, which I did for two years while I was a teenager. It taught me the value of hard work, teamwork, and showing up consistently even when the job wasn’t glamorous.
.
One of my favorite books is The Art of War by Sun Tzu. It may sound unusual, but I’ve always been drawn to its lessons about preparation, strategy, and discipline. For me, it’s less about conflict and more about thinking ahead, staying focused, and knowing that success comes from planning and perseverance.
I would choose Atticus Finch from To Kill a Mockingbird. He represents fairness, moral courage, and the willingness to stand up for what’s right even when it isn’t popular or easy. Those are values I try to carry into my own life and leadership.
Like many people, I’ve had to balance raising a family, working full-time, and starting a small business while also advocating for my children’s education. At times, I’ve faced hostile work environments and challenges that tested my resilience. These struggles have only strengthened my commitment to fight for fairness, integrity, and opportunity—for my family and for every family in our community.
The primary job is oversight and advocacy. A board member should set goals, monitor progress, and advocate for students, families, and teachers. It’s not to micromanage classrooms but to make sure the system works for everyone it serves.
My constituents are first and foremost the students of the district. Beyond them, parents, teachers, support staff, and all taxpayers in the Cobre Consolidated School District are my constituents. Every decision I make will weigh their voices and needs.
By ensuring equity in resources, bilingual communication, and culturally relevant curriculum that reflects the heritage of our community. Faculty and staff deserve fair pay, professional development, and a supportive work environment. The community deserves open communication and opportunities to give input before decisions are made.
I will attend community meetings, faith-based gatherings, and youth events, and work with local civic organizations, tribal representatives, and parent-teacher associations. Listening sessions at schools and in community centers will be a regular practice. I plan to engage directly include teachers, students, parents, business leaders, and local government officials.
Good teaching engages students, sparks curiosity, and produces measurable growth. It’s not just about test scores but about whether students are prepared for the next grade, life skills, and civic responsibility. I support advanced approaches like project-based learning, hands-on technology use, and culturally responsive instruction, and I’ll push for training and resources to make these possible.
Transparency in budgeting is step one. I will advocate for state and federal funds owed under the Yazzie/Martinez case, ensure district funds go first to classrooms, and pursue grants that expand opportunities without adding burdens. Scenario-based budgeting—planning for best and worst cases—will keep us prepared.
Every child deserves to feel safe and respected. That means strong anti-bullying policies, secure campuses, and clear protocols in emergencies. Safety also means emotional safety: schools should be places where students are encouraged and not silenced.
I will push for increased access to counselors, partnerships with local mental health providers, and training for staff to recognize signs of distress. For faculty and staff, I will encourage wellness programs and a culture that values balance, not burnout.
I want to strengthen transparency by requiring quicker public posting of agendas and contracts, improve parent engagement policies, and revisit disciplinary procedures to make sure they are fair and consistent. I also want a clear anti-corruption policy so that favoritism and closed-door dealings are not tolerated.
At this stage, my campaign is grassroots and community-driven. I am not seeking endorsements from political parties or outside organizations—I want my campaign to reflect the voices of parents, students, and community members here in Grant County. My most important endorsements come from the families who want change in our schools, and I am committed to earning their trust every day on the campaign trail.
My ideal environment is safe, inclusive, and focused on high expectations. Every student should feel valued and supported, with access to modern technology, strong literacy and math foundations, extracurricular opportunities, and pathways to college or career.
I will establish regular parent forums at family-friendly times, push for bilingual notices, and ensure parents have access to clear, timely information about their child’s education. Most importantly, I will listen to parents who feel pushed out of the educational process and fight to bring them back in as partners.
Recruitment should focus on creating a stable, supportive work environment so that good people want to come and stay. Competitive compensation, professional growth opportunities, and recognition of achievements are key. I also believe in recruiting locally whenever possible to keep talent in our community.
Has I said previously, I believe we should strengthen financial literacy, civics, and career readiness so students graduate with real-world skills. I also support reviewing curriculum to ensure it reflects our local culture and history while preparing students for global opportunities.
AI can be a powerful tool for personalized learning, tutoring, and reducing teacher workload, but it must be introduced carefully with safeguards for privacy and ethics. I believe AI should supplement—not replace—teachers, giving students extra tools to succeed while protecting data and keeping human educators in control.
I once spoke with a parent who told me how their child struggled in school but turned things around when just one teacher believed in them. That story stuck with me because it reminded me of the power educators have to change lives, and why supporting teachers is not optional—it’s essential.
I am proud of building my own small business from the ground up while raising three children. It took persistence and sacrifice, but it showed me that with enough determination and community support, you can build something meaningful that helps others.
