Edward Romero was the Position 7 representative on the Edgewood Independent School District school board in Texas. Romero won the seat in the by-district general election on November 8, 2016. Romero will not be seated on the board until at least 2018 due to the state's takeover of the board in March 2016. In 2018, the Texas Commissioner of Education will have the option of renewing terms for the state-appointed board of managers or seat elected members.[1]

Three of the seven seats on the Edgewood Independent School District school board were up for general election on November 8, 2016. No incumbents filed for re-election in 2016. Edward Romero defeated Luis Gomez for the Position 7 seat. Position 4 candidate Martha Castilla and Position 5 candidate Joe Guerra won election without opposition.[2] The members cannot take office until at least 2018 due to the state's takeover of the school board in March 2016. The state-appointed board of managers is required to continue calling regularly scheduled elections during the duration of the state takeover.[1]
