My name is Elizabeth Marum, and I’m running to represent HD67 which covers Belgrade and east. I’ve lived in Belgrade for 26 years. I’ve served for the last 12 years on the Belgrade City-County Planning Board. As a member of the Gallatin County Planning Coordination Committee, I actively participated in the creation of the Gallatin County Triangle Plan. My two sons graduated from Belgrade High and then from MSU and UM. I am the past chair of the Gallatin Democrats and a retired member of MFPE, the largest public employee union in Montana.

I am your neighbor. I feel the weight of the challenges our communities face and we deserve better representation in our state government.

  • Solutions exist at the state level to address our affordable housing crisis. It's time we have a representative who will support them, including investing in infrastructure to support affordable housing. We can also change state laws that prevent us from assessing higher fees to out-of-state, part-time residents.
  • I stand firmly with a person's right to privacy to make their own healthcare decisions, including abortion care.
  • Our planet provides us with a healthy environment necessary for life. If we don’t address a changing climate, none of us will prosper. Montana has unique opportunities to support climate-friendly policies as an energy-producing state and can lead the way on solutions. I will promote sustainable energy generation.
I know the struggle of making ends meet. I know the pain of earning barely more than minimum wage. As a single parent, I relied on wild game to feed my boys. With our area’s rapid growth and affordable housing crisis, I feel the weight of these challenges. That’s why I’m running for state legislature to implement solutions that can help. These include taxing second homes and luxury units at higher rates and taxing short-term rentals as commercial properties.
