Campaign website

Dix's campaign website stated the following:

Public Service

I've devoted my career to working in education, nonprofits, and the public sector. Since leaving employment with the Village, I've enjoyed serving as a poll worker and with the Strategic Planning Committee last summer.

Informed Decision-Making

As a librarian, I am a big fan of doing research. The Village staff does a great job of providing context for issues facing the Board. But I would work hard to prepare for meetings in advance, ask questions when things seem unclear, and make sure everyone is on the same page about complex issues that the Board is voting on.

Land Preservation & Development

There's a reason that all local candidates talk about balancing growth with preserving Rochester's rural heritage. With the way property taxes currently work in Wisconsin, there is no way to fund the same municipal services year after year without continually expanding the tax base with new development. But land preservation/conservation is important to me personally, and surveys have shown that residents highly value Rochester's rural character as well. To the extent that the Board has a say in these matters, I would consider very carefully any development decisions that involve the destruction of farmland or natural areas.

Transparent Communication

When I worked at the Village Hall, I enjoyed opportunities to chat with residents, even about thorny topics. As a Board member, I would build on this foundation to prioritize accessibility and clear communication with residents. To that end, if you're reading this page and you have a question about my candidacy, please reach out below!
