Frederick B. Wilkins, Jr. was the chief district court judge for the 17A Judicial District, which presides over Rockingham County in North Carolina. He became a judge for the court in 1998.[1] Wilkins was defeated in his bid for re-election to the court in 2014 and stepped down from the bench at the end of his last term on December 31, 2014.[2]

General: He was defeated in the general election on November 4, 2014, after receiving 49.9 percent of the vote. He competed against Christopher A. Freeman.

Judicial performance evaluation
In July 2014, the North Carolina Bar Association released the results of a survey in which it asked lawyers to rate the judicial candidates for the trial courts. The candidates were rated from one to five on five different criteria as well as on their overall performance.[4]

Wilkins received his undergraduate degree from Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania and his J.D. degree from Wake Forest University.[5]
