George W. Emerson, Jr.
George W. Emerson, Jr. was a bankruptcy judge for the Western District of Tennessee. He was appointed to the bankruptcy court on July 1, 2006, and retired at the end of his term on June 30, 2020.[1][2]
Education
Judge Emerson received both his undergraduate degree and J.D. from the University of Memphis.[3]
Career
Beginning his career, Emerson was a clerk for Judge William B. Leffler. From 1983 to 1985, Emerson worked as clerk of the Western District of Tennessee Bankruptcy Court. Next, he worked in private practice, including as partner at Stevenson and Emerson.
Also from 1983, he was a Chapter 17 trustee, and from 1988, he was a Chapter 13 trustee.[1]
