Elections
Voter and candidate information
The Greece Central Board of Education consists of nine members elected to three-year terms. Elections are held at large on a staggered basis every year in May. Three seats were up for election on May 17, 2016, and four seats—three regular three-year terms and one one-year term—were up for election on May 16, 2017.[4][5]
To qualify for the ballot, school board candidates had to be at least 18 years old, U.S. citizens, and residents of the district for at least one year prior to the election. They had to be able to read and write and could not be employees of the school district. Candidates could not have been removed from another school board position within a year of running for office and could not hold another elected office that was incompatible with the school board. To get on the ballot, candidates had to file nominating petitions with the clerk of the school district by April 17, 2017.[6]
