The Illinois Gateway Amendment was on the 1919 ballot in Illinois as an advisory question. It was approved. This advisory measure was intended to show the delegates to the constitutional convention that the people wished to modify the constitutional provisions regarding the number of votes required to approve an amendment.[1][2]
