JMC Analytics and Polling is a polling and political data firm located in Louisiana. JMC Analytics works with both candidates and issue campaigns.[1]

Background

JMC Analytics and Polling, also known as JMC Enterprises of Louisiana, was founded by John Couvillon, a former Blue Cross data analyst, in 2010.[2] According to the company's website, Couvillon launched the company as a way to combine his interest in politics with his professional experience as a data analyst and information systems expert.[1]

Leadership

As of August 2025, John Couvillon is the owner and founder of JMC Analytics and Polling.[3]

Work and activities

Polling work

According to its website, JMC Analytics conducts polling via text messaging and live operator surveys.[4] The firm said its goal is "providing clients with usable and insightful information that they can use to make data-driven decisions on campaign strategy."[4]

JMC Analytics and Polling has worked with clients in 38 states who are running in local, legislative, and statewide elections, as well as issue advocacy campaigns.[5]

Polling activity

2023-2024

As of February 2025, Nate Silver, founder of FiveThirtyEight, gave JMC Analytics a grade of B/C.[6]

During the 2024 election cycle, JMC Analytics and Polling produced public polls on the New Orleans mayoral race, as well as other public policy issues in Louisiana[7][8] In 2023, JMC also released polling on the 2024 Republican Party presidential primary, as well as statewide elections in Louisiana.[9][10]

2020

According to an analysis of 11 polls, FiveThirtyEight gave JMC Analytics an overall grade of B/C on May 19, 2020.[11]

In July 2020, Couvillon posted a GoFundMe to support polling in a wider range of races. He wrote, "I’ve noticed in the political world, however, there is a scant availability of independent, publicly released polling, which is a concern to me (and to many others in the political world, from political people I talk to everyday). I’ve also found that some states/Congressional districts get more polling attention than others. Therefore, I wish to give the political public a choice to weigh in (via crowdfunding and social media) whether (and where) they want to fund independent polling."[12]

The first crowdfunded poll JMC Analytics conducted was for the U.S. Senate Democratic primary in Massachusetts in the same month. It had Sen. Ed Markey (D) leading Rep. Joseph Kennedy III (D) by four points with 24% of voters undecided.[13]

2017

JMC Analytics published several polls for the U.S. Senate special election in Alabama in 2017. The polls had Roy Moore (R) leading in both the Republican primary and primary run-off.[14][15][16] JMC Analytics found Doug Jones ahead of Moore in the general election by four points in early November, before incorrectly projecting Moore would beat Jones by five points.[17][18]
