I am a father of two and husband of one amazing wife who is a mental health counselor in Las Vegas. My daughter graduated with the first International Baccalaureate class at Palo Verde High School. I have an education degree (Ed.S) and my doctorate in conflict management. I am a medically retired USAF chaplain out of Nellis AFB. I understand the struggles and importance, while moving around the world, to place my children in the best schools possible. Their future depends on it. I understand bureaucracy, when it's necessary and when to avoid it. I am currently and gratefully the Senior Aerospace Science Instructor at Shadow Ridge High School. Having gone through the hiring process in CCSD I quickly discerned why and how we need to strengthen our school system to recruit families to our county, enhance our economy, and set our county for success by graduating students into our county who are bright, courageous, passionate, hardworking leaders. One of my favorite quotes is "You can't exercise your privilege to criticize without first exercising your obligation to contribute." That is why I am stepping up to serve on the CCSD school board. It will be my humble honor for you to consider voting for me.
  • I understand that compassion, cooperation, understanding, humility and wisdom are the keys to organizational effectiveness.
  • Our world, country, state, and county are always one generation away from success or failure.
  • My skills and education in institutional process improvement make me uniquely qualified to lead our district into the future.

To know their people. To know their mission. To know their environment. Being self-aware of these is crucial to moving self out of the equation and pushing for what is best for all.

Personal initiative to stay informed. To use technology to increase that awareness of the current needs but use personal interaction to meet them.
That we achieved so much while increasing friendships, and raising the caliber of teaching and students.

A new level of cooperation in sharing the challenges and championing each others successes.
That pride for what we do together was greater than ever and morale was the highest it's ever been.
The new heights that were gained while minding not who got the credit.
That I brought fun and enjoyment back to the district leadership

That teachers, administration & student felt a heightened sense of being heard and included

Short term memory. I've always struggled with it, but after TBI in Afghanistan, I've had to work constantly to develop new mechanisms for remembering and give diligence to attention to detail
To lead with courage and compassion mending conflicts and working for the common good of students.
Reach out. Include all residents and organizations that have a stake in our success with raising students who make a positive difference in our community.
Listen to PTAs, administrators, parents, community leaders, and students. They must all have a voice at the table of diplomacy.
Beuracracy. Fairness. Lack of drive for each to do and be their best.
Subject knowledge, compassion, understanding, and care for the students enough to help each become the best they can be.
By improving the reputation of that diploma through excellence and personal interaction at all levels.
Students aren't carbon copies. Each has skills, capabilities, and insights into what THEY want and can be and do. Teach to reach. innovative programming will including listening sessions where each student and family has a voice.
Set priorities at the district and school levels. Then analyze the budget to insure they match. For where are treasure is, there will our heart be also.

I have been a counselor most of my life, and my wife is a mental health counselor, so I understand the importance of understanding and that there are reasons for why people feel strongly about something that takes time to understand, inform, and take appropriate actions at the lowest levels possible.
Information is increasingly becoming common. It's the hearts of people that will be making the difference. Technology is changing how we interact and the challenge for deep interaction and true relationships must be considered at each level of why we move something to a computer based system.
