Biography
Lewis' professional experience includes working in the nonprofit sector. He has also worked for 20 years assessing organizational dynamics, board governance, team management, and fund development. At the time of his candidacy, Lewis was working for CharisNP, a nonprofit that he founded.[1][2]

- Excerpt: "Our families, our property and our livelihoods are dependent upon well-trained, equipped, and appropriately allocated public safety teams. Our public safety officers must know that the public has their back - and that of their families - as they faithfully put their lives on the line. Once they are provided the best training and leadership, we must understand the life-and-death decisions they are called on to make."

2014
The city of Long Beach, California held city council elections on June 3, 2014. A primary election took place on April 8. Because one candidate received more than 50 percent of the vote in the District 3 primary, its general election was called off. Susan Price defeated Jack A. Rosenberg, James K. Lewis, Martha F. Gibson and Stephen C. Bello.[4][5][6]
