Jay York is the Republican Place 4 judge on the 13 Circuit in Alabama. He was initally appointed to the court by Gov. Robert Bentley (R) on June 16, 2015, to replace retired Judge Joseph Johnston. York won election to a full six-year term in the general election on November 8, 2016.[1]

York was previously a judge of the Mobile County District Court from 2012 to 2015. He was appointed to that court by Bentley to replace outgoing Judge Michael McMaken.[2]

Biography

York earned his undergraduate degree from Springhill College in 1977 and his J.D. from Cumberland School of Law.[3]

Alabama held general elections for local judicial offices in 2016. A primary election took place on March 1, 2016, with a primary runoff on April 12, 2016. The general election was held on November 8, 2016.

Incumbent Jay York ran unopposed in the general election for the Alabama 13th Judicial Circuit Place 4 seat.[4]

York ran for re-election to the Mobile County District Court.
Primary: He was successful in the Republican primary on June 3rd, 2014, receiving 75.8 percent of the vote. He competed against Bryan D'Angelo.
General: He was unopposed in the general election on November 4, 2014. [5][6]
