Hi! I am Jim Fried. I’ve called Laramie home for my entire adult life, and it’s shaped who I am. My journey in environmental conservation began with AmeriCorps, and now I’m proud to serve as the Medicine Bow-Routt Coordinator for the National Forest Foundation. I’ve led initiatives to improve outdoor infrastructure and engage our community, and have held discussions in Washington, DC and across our great state. When I'm not working, I love exploring our vibrant downtown. Nu2u, our bike shops, our coffee shops, bars, and restaurants are such a fun part of our community! I am a nature lover and enjoy skiing, biking, and more in our neighboring forests and mountains.
  • Conservation - conserve and protect our water and natural resources for generations to come.
  • Collaboration - working respectfully with peers, community members, stakeholders, and experts to make well-rounded decisions.
  • Community - being an integral part of the community and making decisions that help our community thrive.
I’ve been a renter in this city for over a decade (in Centennial for one!). And, recently became a first-time homeowner here.

I know, firsthand, how hard finding a safe, affordable place to live in Laramie is. That’s why I’m passionate about ensuring our rental code effectively keeps renters’ safe, while remaining low-burden on contractors. And that we have avenues to develop accessible housing.

My life’s work is in conservation, recreation, and solving complex problems on a local, state, and federal level. I will always be passionate about environmentally conscious policies that will protect our resources for future generations.
Transparency, integrity, and willingness to work together.
My ability to listen to various groups of people and disseminate information.
The ethos of leaving something better than you found it!
I was a bagger at an international grocery store, cashier, and shelve stocker.
Powder Days- Heather Hansman, for the science and recreation perspective on snow and the future of winter recreation.
Happy trails- Rapidgrass, Kelly's Mountain- J.P Cormier, Rest Easy- 10Cent stranger (a local Laramie band).
