John Barsanti is a judge on the Sixteenth Circuit Court in Illinois. He was appointed to join the court in September 2010, effective following the retirement of Michael J. Colwell on December 1, 2010. He was re-elected on Nov. 6, 2012 for a term that expires in December of 2018.[1][2][3][4]

Education

Barsanti received his B.S. degree from Carroll College and his J.D. degree (1977) from the Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago-Kent College of Law.[3]

Career

Barsanti began his legal career at the Illinois Department of Labor. He then joined the Kane County State's Attorney's Office in 1979. In 2004, he was elected as state's attorney. From 2000 to 2004, he also worked for the Illinois Appellate Prosecutor's Office. In late 2010, he became a circuit court judge.[3]

2012 election

Barsanti was elected without opposition on Nov. 6, 2012. He was unopposed in the Republican primary on March 20, 2012.[5][6]
