John D. Carbaugh is a judge of the Carroll County Orphans Court in Carroll County, Maryland. He has sat on the court since 2015, but previously served as a judge on the court from May 2001 to December 6, 2010. Carbaugh was elected again on November 4, 2014, to a term that expires on December 31, 2018.[1][2][3]

Carbaugh ran for election to the Orphans Court of Carroll County.
Primary: He was successful in the Republican primary on June 24, 2014, receiving 21.9 percent of the vote. He competed against Samuel V. Greenholtz, Charles M. Coles, Jr., and incumbent Judges Dorothy V. Utz and Cathy Reese. Primary candidates competed for 3 seats.
General: He faced Charles E. Harrison, Ed Leister, Neil Ridgely, and incumbent judges, Dorothy V. Utz and Cathy Reese in the general election on November 4, 2014, and won with 23.4 percent of the vote. Candidates competed for three open seats.

Carbaugh ran for re-election to the Orphans Court of Carroll County in the 2010 primary, but did not receive enough votes to advance to the general election.[5]
