Dorothy V. Utz is a judge on the Orphans Court of Carroll County in Carroll County, Maryland.[1] She was first elected to this court in 1994 and was the first woman to serve on this court.[2] Utz ran for re-election to the Orphans Court of Carroll County in 2014, winning a term that expired on December 31, 2018.[3][4]

Utz ran for re-election to the Orphans Court of Carroll County.
Primary: She was successful in the Republican primary on June 24, 2014, receiving 27.6 percent of the vote. She competed against John D. Carbaugh, Charles M. Coles, Jr., Samuel V. Greenholtz, and incumbent Judge Cathy Reese. Primary candidates competed for 3 seats. 
General: She faced Charles E. Harrison, Ed Leister, Neil Ridgely, John D. Carbaugh, and incumbent Judge Cathy Reese in the general election on November 4, 2014, and won with 26.3 percent of the vote. Candidates competed for three open seats. [3][5] 

2010

Utz was re-elected to the Orphans Court of Carroll County along with Cathy Reese and Ron Brewer with 29.03 percent of the vote in the general election on November 2, 2010.[6]
