Joseph Hantsch was a 2016 Republican candidate who sought election to the U.S. House to represent the 8th Congressional District of Illinois. Hantsch was removed from the ballot prior to the primary.[1]

Krishnamoorthi defeated Michael Noland and Deb Bullwinkel in the Democratic primary on March 15, 2016. DiCianni defeated write-in candidate Andrew Straw in the Republican primary.[2][3]
