My three children are students, and my wife is a third grade teacher, all within CCSD District E. Ensuring all children, including my own, are provided with the best possible public education is what inspired me to run for CCSD Board Trustee, District E. I recently retired from the Air Force after 20 years of service. Throughout my career I held numerous leadership positions and developed exceptional skills in solving very complex problems, maximizing budgets to achieve results, and collaborating with diverse groups of people to accomplish goals. Additionally, I have served on two school organizational teams (SOT) where I learned some of the challenges of staffing, budgeting, and driving student success at the school level. I’m prepared to take these skills and lessons to the district level where I can help drive positive change for all students in CCSD and their communities.
  • Ensure the district has appropriate funding and resources to build the world-class education our students deserve, particularly making sure funding is available to compensate teachers appropriately, which will help drive recruitment and retention. To accomplish this I will proactively work with the board to engage the state and advocate for appropriate funding. Additionally, I will exercise aggressive oversight to make sure we spend funds with a 100% focus on driving student success and outcomes.
  • Build positive relationships with the community to establish buy-in from families and drive the importance of family participation in being part of the student success team. To accomplish this I will engage the public, specifically the members of my district, to ensure I am always prepared to represent the interests and concerns of the community that I serve. I will regularly attend meetings of school organizational teams, actively participate in community events, and continuously have two-way communication with community members.
  • Utilize my position on the board to ensure all actions and decisions are transparent. This starts with proactive planning to ensure the public is aware of upcoming decisions and has appropriate time to review and prepare for productive discussion. To enable this, each board member must hold the board president accountable to setting agendas well in advance that are easily accessible and understandable to the public.
I'm passionate about transparency regarding decision making and about appropriate use of public funds to meet the mission and vision of the respective public offices.
Integrity, trustworthiness, determination, accountability, and leadership.

To effectively supervise the activities of the superintendent, ensure that person is meeting the requirements of their position, and take appropriate action when necessary.

Also, ensuring that all school board actions are contributing to student success through transparency and positive community relationships.
That I always fought for student success.

Overall, all of CCSD and the greater community. However, more regular engagement with District E.

Through regular engagement and easy access with prompt responsiveness.

I will target specific groups and organizations for collaboration based on issues at hand. As far as stakeholders, engaging with caregivers would be a priority as we help to solidify their significance as part of the learning team.
Good teaching has a the objective measurement of testing success, but also very important is the subjective measure of developing students to be productive citizens.

Testing data helps measure the objective piece, but the objective piece is measured through how our communities reflect mutual respect.
I would need to consult with curriculum specialists to understand where expansion would be beneficial.

Opportunities for advanced technical training and apprenticeships should be an available option.
Regular engagement with state legislators and communication with the public to motivate legislators to allocate funds appropriately.
All students and faculty deserve the right to operate without fear.
Continue to recruit qualified professionals and retain them through the methods described before.
I would work with the community to find out what policies need attention and then advocate for those changes.
Two District E principals and one dentist.
An ideal learning environment is one of mutual respect between students and teachers. It provides equal opportunity for all students to succeed and does not discriminate for any reason. Also, all school positions are filled so that class sizes are smaller and all resources are available for teachers to focus their attention on student success.
There was no right answer. I'd work with the community to ensure kids were taken care of and to help posture them for future success.
I have observed a lack of tact, respect, and focus between the board and the public. This goes both ways. As the elected body, the board must set the tone of transparency, integrity, and service. If these tenants are maintained, there is no reason the public should not reciprocate with tactful, respectful, student-focused conversations.

I would lead the way in setting the example for the proper way to treat people. If things begin to take a turn away from professionalism and student success, I will utilize my calm-under-pressure approach to refocus the situation.
Recruitment begins with making the district a positive place to work. This is fostered by building a culture of respect between admin and the community.

Once quality candidates are attracted to a position, competitive pay and benefits must be in place to provide a livable wage.
All public office must be transparent and accountable when using public funds. All use of fund must clearly be aligned with accomplishing the mission of that office.
