Lake Country Now surveyed the school board candidates. Below are Steitzer's responses:[3]

What do you see as the biggest issue facing your district?

The district loses $2.29 million yearly, a number that continues to rise as students opt into Arrowhead or Kettle Moraine, and as the per-pupil state funding that follows those students increases. There are structural, transportation and programming issues that contribute to the loss of that revenue stream, causing tight budgets and rising taxes.[4]

—Juliet Steitzer[3]

How would you address that issue?

OASD markets personalized education, but delivers it through a top-down mandate on teachers. Area districts have responded to student and parent needs by creating innovative public charter schools to address the students' different learning needs or interests and offering multiple scheduling possibilities for "block" and "skinny" high school classes.[4]
