Campaign themes

2014

Fonoimoana's website highlighted the following campaign themes:[1]

Early Childhood Education

  • Excerpt: "We need to invest on our children so they are prepared to take full advantage of opportunities that will allow them to thrive here at home."

Genetic Engineering

  • Excerpt: "Ideally, labeling of GE food should be addressed at the federal level and is a good first step in protecting our food supply and environment. If the FDA is slow to react to consumer desires, the state should step in to require labeling."

Pesticide Disclosure

  • Excerpt: "Increasing our food supply using modern technologies and science is not always a bad thing. Use of chemicals to either fertilize crops or control weed growth has without a doubt been beneficial to increasing crop yields."

Energy Production

  • Excerpt: "As our population grows, so does our need for energy. We need to move away from the burning of oil and move towards responsible renewable and clean energy sources."

Development

  • Excerpt: "I believe that everyone should have a home to live in and a place to work. Our population is growing and this means that some hard decisions will need to be made to either accommodate or limit growth."
