Good evening, everyone!

My name is Kim Martin, and I come before you as someone who is deeply embedded in this community. I’m a mother of three boys—each one with their own dreams, challenges, and incredible potential. One of my sons is in elementary school right now, and like so many of you, I am committed to creating a future where our children can grow, thrive, and reach for the stars.

I’m also a proud volunteer, working each week at my church, a place that has taught me the value of service and the incredible strength of community. And as the owner of a small business that works at local farmer's markets, I know how important it is to create opportunities for local entrepreneurs and support our local economy.

I stand here today because I believe that we, together, can make our community an even better place to live, work, and raise our families. I believe we have the power to foster real change, not just through words but through actions, through service, and through a collective vision that reflects our shared values.

Today, I want to talk to you about why I believe in this community, what drives me, and the change I hope to see in the future.
  • I am deeply committed to ensuring every child has access to a quality education. Schools should be places where children feel safe, supported, and empowered to learn and grow. As a mother, I want my own children, and all children, to have the tools they need to succeed—whether through dedicated teachers, updated resources, or inclusive programs. Education is the foundation of a brighter future, and it is our responsibility to ensure all children, regardless of background, have equal opportunities to reach their potential. I will work tirelessly to strengthen our schools, advocate for necessary resources, and support educators in their crucial work. Every child deserves the chance to thrive.
  • Community is the heart of any thriving society. It’s where we build connections, offer support, and share resources. It’s not just about proximity, but about caring for one another and lifting each other up. A strong community provides a sense of belonging, helping individuals grow, succeed, and feel valued. It encourages collaboration, where everyone’s contribution matters. When we come together, we create a safer, more compassionate world. Whether through small acts of kindness or collective efforts, a united community has the power to overcome challenges and create lasting change for all.
  • Transparency in schools is essential for building trust and ensuring accountability. Parents, students, and the community should have clear access to information about school policies, performance, and decision-making processes. This includes curriculum details, financial spending, and how resources are being allocated. When schools are transparent, families can better support their children’s education and feel confident in the decisions being made. It also allows teachers and administrators to work collaboratively with the community, fostering an environment of openness and shared responsibility. A transparent school system empowers everyone involved to work together toward the best outcomes for our children.
"As a candidate for the school board, my commitment is to ensure every student has the resources and opportunities they deserve to succeed. Public policy around education must prioritize equitable funding for our schools, so that no child is left behind due to financial disparities. At the same time, we must advocate for a rigorous curriculum that prepares students for the challenges of the future, whether through STEM education, the arts, or life skills. I believe in fostering an environment where our educators are empowered and our students are set up for lifelong success. Together, we can build a brighter future through smart, thoughtful educational policy."
"As a candidate for the school board, I bring a strong commitment to dedication, determination, and hard work. I believe in rolling up my sleeves and getting the job done—on time and with great attention to detail. I’m passionate about restoring essential enrichment programs that were cut last year, and I’ll work tirelessly to secure the funding needed for those programs. My focus will also be on carefully reviewing the budget to identify areas where we can redistribute resources to better meet the needs of our students. With my dedication and strong work ethic, I will ensure every decision made is in the best interest of our children and their future."
All Ken Blanchard's books and Peter Drucker's books
"As a candidate for the school board, I will fight to restore the enrichment programs that were taken away this past year. These programs are vital for nurturing our students' creativity, critical thinking, and overall development. I will work tirelessly to secure the funding needed to bring them back and ensure our schools are well-resourced. I will also take a deep dive into the district’s budget to identify areas where we can redistribute funds—without compromising essential services—so we can prioritize what truly benefits our students. Together, we can build a stronger educational foundation for all."
