A vote about whether to recall Kim Yordanich and Tom Lavender from their positions as elected officials of Sharon Township in Washtenaw County, Michigan took place on the August 2, 2011 ballot
.[1] Both officials were recalled from their seats.[2]
Reno Feldkamp, John Savage and Peter Psarouthakis organized the recall.
Prior to initiating the recall effort, Feldkamp and Savage asked for Yordanich and Lavender to resign from their positions on the board because they had voted to support a motion to condemn Roy Gourley’s property and use his property for a wastewater treatment facility.
Gourley sued the township, which ultimately had to pay him over $600,000 in restitution. Township residents will be paying a 1.05 millage for 15 years in order to pay for that settlement.
