This measure sought to increase the current non residential levy to the rate of $19.75 per $1,000 of assessed property value for a period of ten years in order to help pay for general operational costs of the school district.[2]
Text of measure
The question on the ballot:
Shall the limitation on the total amount of taxes which may be assessed against all property, except property exempted by law, situated within the Lamphere Schools, County of Oakland, State of Michigan, be increased as provided in the Michigan Constitution, in the amount of 19.75 mills ($19.75 on each $1,000 of taxable valuation), for a period of ten (10) years, from July 1, 2012 through June 30, 2022, inclusive, with 19.75 mills of the above being a renewal of millage which would otherwise expire on June 30, 2012? This millage would provide estimated revenues to The Lamphere Schools of Fourteen million, eight hundred twenty-three thousand nine hundred seventyseven ($14,823,977) Dollars during the 2012 calendar year, to be used for general operating purposes, if approved and levied.[3] |
