Linda M. Van De Water was a judge of the Waukesha County Circuit Court in Wisconsin.[1] She was elected to the court in 2003 and re-elected in 2009.[2] She was defeated for re-election in 2015, and stepped down when her term expired on July 31, 2015.[3]

Education

Van De Water earned her degree from Marquette University Law School in 1988.[2]

Career

Van De Water served as a Waukesha County assistant district attorney for 10 years. She unsuccessfully ran as a Republican for attorney general in 1998.[2]

Van De Water ran for a seat on the Wisconsin Court of Appeals in 2010.[5] The seat was open due to the retirement of Judge Harry Snyder. She lost the election to Paul Reilly.

Campaign finance

Van De Water spent an estimated $140,000 on her campaign and was reported to have $200,000 in her campaign fund.[2]

Noteworthy events

Disorderly conduct charge (2011)

In 2011, Van De Water was charged with disorderly conduct after allegedly confronting her ex-boyfriend at the home of another woman. According to the complaint, she kicked and jumped on the hood of the man's car. The complaint also recorded other instances of conflict. Van De Water pleaded no contest and was fined $100 plus court costs.[6][7][8]
