Lucas Scanlon was born in Houston, Texas. Scanlon's professional experience includes working in Technology and Quantitative Finance Advisory. He earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Houston in 1996, graduate degrees from Rice University in 2008, and an M.P.A. from Harvard University in 2012.

Lucas Scanlon has been married since July 7, 2001 to his wife Bethany. Their daughter is a first grader at Rennell Elementary. The Scanlon Family has been living in Cypress, TX since 2009 and are active members of Hope City Church.

• Sharpen focus on academic, athletic and artistic excellence.
• Provide safety and foster creativity inside the classroom.
• Unify around core education areas of factual history, the sciences, art and athletics to build community with robust academic discussion.

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

Politics do not help in the workplace; critical thinking does.
Critical race theory and every permutation of Marxist social indoctrination is a vehicle for creating divisive families and inserting the school and education between the student and the parent. We will unify around core education areas of factual history, the sciences, art and athletics to build community with robust academic discussion.

Is there a book, essay, film, or something else you would recommend to someone who wants to understand your political philosophy?

What characteristics or principles are most important for an elected official?

Honesty, Transparency, Integrity

What qualities do you possess that you believe would make you a successful officeholder?

Honesty and Transparency.

What do you believe are the core responsibilities for someone elected to this office?

To help guid the school district to academic, athletic and arts excellence.

What legacy would you like to leave?

Academic, Athletic and Art Excellence in CFISD.

What is your favorite book? Why?

The Bible. I believe it is the Word of God and I use it for inspiration and guidance.

If you could be any fictional character, who would you want to be?

What was the last song that got stuck in your head?

We will Rock you by Queen. My daughter is in Cheer, and she has me play it over and over in the car.

What is the primary job of a school board member in your view?

To help guide the school district.

Who are your constituents?

Cy-Fair Students, Teachers, Faculty and Tax Payers.

What issues get in the way of quality education? How would you address these obstacles?

Our students need to be able to exchange ideas to define merit. Cancel culture and offense destroys intelligent conversation. We need to teach our kids to be strong citizens, support robust academic discussion, and foster the intelligent exchange of ideas.

What constitutes good teaching? How will you measure this? How will you support advanced teaching approaches?

Teachers and administrators serve our children and parents. Teachers are accountable for doing the job that is their passion; teaching skills in how to think, not what to think. Administrators are accountable for getting out of teacher’s way to enable teachers to do their job with reasonable expectations and pay.

In what areas would you like to expand curriculum? For example, do you see a need for advanced technical training or apprenticeships? What sort of innovative programming would you advance if given the opportunity?

I absolutely believe in a need for advanced technical training.

What role do you imagine technology playing in (and outside) the classroom in the future? How would you prepare the district for this?

I have been in technology for over a decade. I believe technology should have a place in the classroom.

What will you do to build a relationship with parents in the district? What plans do you have to be inclusive of parental involvement?

I plan on listening to the parents and answering their concerns.
