Mark Fischer
Mark Fischer was a 2012 Republican candidate for District 50 of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives.
Campaign themes
Fischer's website highlighted the following campaign themes:[1]
Government in Your Life
- Excerpt: "I believe that the individual is the best person to decide how to spend their money. Sending money to government results in a large percentage going to fund government itself and small amounts are returned to the community in the form of infrastructure projects, social programs, and other entitlements that could be better provided if the money remained at home."
Energy Policy
- Excerpt: "If government restrictions on producing energy are reduced, the free market would lower costs to a reasonable level. Our current President favors high energy costs and limits on production as a means to force us into alternative energy schemes."
Welfare/Safety Net Programs
- Excerpt: "I do not support most welfare and so called safety net programs rampant in government. These programs are designed to “spread the wealth around” and prosperity is not achieved by redistributing wealth on a government determined system of fairness."
Firearms and the Second Amendment
- Excerpt: "The assaults on the Second Amendment drove me from the Democrat Party and ensured I would never return. The right to keep and bear arms is an absolute to me and that will never change."
Heath Insurance
- Excerpt: "The birth control provisions are a constitutional violation and a slap in the face to the Catholic Church and other organizations that reject the provision on religious grounds. Just as religious organizations should be free to reject birth control, the government should never attempt to make birth control illegal."
Government Monopoly on Liquor Sales
- Excerpt: "Pennsylvania is one of 19 states that currently operate a monopoly control over the sale and distribution of liquor. I support the free market as the best management tool for business and reject the idea that government knows better."
