Barnett ran in the 2012 election for New Mexico House of Representatives District 68. Barnett, Paul D. Barber, Claudette M. Chavez-Hankins were defeated by Monica C. Youngblood in the Republican primary on June 5, 2012. Youngblood faces Democrat Eloise Gift in the general election on November 6, 2012. Incumbent Thomas Garcia (D) did not run for re-election.[2][3]
