  • I want to introduce Technology to our city lifestyle. Technology-based employment will be my priority. Preserving the future of Sugar Land means ensuring the city grows while welcoming new businesses and enterprises. Sugar Land truly needs change and innovation, and I believe I am the candidate best equipped to guide that transformation. Together, we can create a thriving community that balances progress with cherished traditions.
  • We pay nearly the highest taxes of any city in Fort Bend, yet reap few benefits. Correcting our budget will be my top priority as a City Council member. To achieve this, I plan to work with the county to get services for the city and our due share from the Countywide Tax.
  • The key to the future is redevelopment. We need to start repurposing areas no longer needed. For instance, converting a library to engage Sugar Land's aspiring young content creators or an empty building as a startup pilot pad. We must attract the Tech sector, like Austin or Dallas, by actively planning for the future together.
I am deeply passionate about public policies that foster genuine community engagement, strengthen connections among residents, and create spaces where people feel valued and heard. I believe building strong, inclusive communities starts with active listening and ongoing dialogue. My focus is on enhancing civic participation, promoting affordable housing, protecting individual rights, and ensuring our city remains welcoming and accessible to everyone.
Integrity, accountability, empathy, active listening, open-mindedness, transparency, and a strong commitment to public service are critical. Elected officials should act ethically, respond effectively to constituents' needs, and maintain humility in leadership.
The fall of USSR in 1991 was the first historical event that I remember to this day. I was 12 years old and was living in Pakistan. At that time Pakistan and the region in general had suffered a lot due to Cold war and Soviet Invasion of Afghanistan. The sudden fall was really astonishing as the whole population suffered a lot due to constant war and terrorism in major cities.
My first job was in Standard Chartered Grindlays Bank as a Project Engineer. I was part of IT department that integrated the 2 banks Standard Chartered and ANZ Grindlays bank in Pakistan. I joined the organization in 2000 and left in 2002 as I got admitted to Masters program in University of Delaware with full scholarship.
One significant but lesser-known responsibility of the Sugar Land City Council is its direct role in appointing and overseeing the City Manager. This role is critically important, as the City Manager manages daily operations, including the allocation of city funds, overseeing budgets, and implementing policies decided by the Council. Additionally, City Council members regularly host public meetings, providing residents direct opportunities to voice concerns, influence policy decisions, and hold local government accountable. By better understanding the importance of the City Council’s role in these processes, residents can more effectively participate in local governance and ensure their voices shape the city's development and financial management
Yes, previous experience in government or politics is beneficial for effectively fulfilling the duties of this office. My background includes substantial experience in local leadership roles and community organizing, such as serving on my neighborhood’s HOA board (2021-2023), where I actively addressed resident concerns and proposed actionable solutions. Additionally, I served on the Sugar Land Mobility Citizen Task Force (2020-2022), contributing to city-wide infrastructure and mobility improvements. Furthermore, I founded and led the Telfair Crescent Association (TeCA), which successfully empowered hundreds of families to participate actively in local elections and governance, enhancing community engagement across Sugar Land. These experiences have equipped me with the skills and understanding necessary to represent our community effectively on City Council
The Sugar Land City Council holds a unique position due to its direct impact on both day-to-day community life and long-term city planning. Its uniqueness lies particularly in its need for a strong technical background to tackle complex, infrastructure-related issues like mobility, flood mitigation, zoning, and redevelopment strategies. Having a deep technical and professional understanding, particularly in fields such as infrastructure, technology, and urban planning, empowers council members to develop practical, sustainable, and innovative solutions. My background as a Telecom Consultant, coupled with my experience on the Mobility Task Force and Vision Sugar Land Think Tank, positions me well to address Sugar Land's unique infrastructure and development challenges. It allows me to blend technical expertise with a keen awareness of community needs, making my approach pragmatic, inclusive, and forward-looking
Financial transparency and government accountability are cornerstones of effective governance. Sugar Land residents pay among the highest taxes in Fort Bend County yet often see disproportionately fewer benefits from their contributions. Addressing this imbalance through rigorous financial transparency is essential. Specifically, implementing comprehensive transparency dashboards to monitor how every government dollar is spent will empower residents with clear insights into resource allocation. These dashboards will be complemented by regular financial disclosures and independent audits to foster trust, improve efficiency, and ensure government accountability. It's vital to correct any inefficiencies in the budget to guarantee that taxpayer money directly benefits our community through essential infrastructure projects like flood mitigation and mobility improvements
