Three seats on the Nebo School District Board of Education were up for general election on November 4, 2014. Precincts 2, 4 and 5 were up for re-election.

In the Precinct 2 race, incumbent Kristen Betts faced off against challenger April Clawson. In the Precinct 4 race, incumbent Rick B. Ainge ran against Larry Ballard. Both Betts and Ainge defeated their challengers and retained their seats. Incumbent Shannon M. Acor ran unopposed to retain her Precinct 5 seat.

Nebo School District is located in Utah County, Utah. The county seat is Provo. Utah County was home to 551,926 residents in 2013, according to the United States Census Bureau.[1] In the 2012-2013 school year, Nebo School District was the sixth-largest school district in Utah and served 31,241 students.[2]

Demographics

Utah County overperformed in comparison to the rest of Utah in terms of higher education achievement and median household income in 2013. The United States Census Bureau found that 36.5 percent of county residents aged 25 years and older had attained a bachelor's degree compared to 30.3 percent for Utah as a whole. The median household income was $60,196 compared to $58,821 for the state of Utah. The poverty rate in Utah County was 14.0 percent compared to 12.7 percent for the entire state.[1]

Voter and candidate information

The Nebo Board of Education consists of seven members elected to four-year terms by specific geographic zone. There was no primary election, and the general election was held on November 4, 2014. Three seats were up for election in 2014.[4]
