Still pending is the candidacy of Carl Lewis, nine-time Olympic Track and Field champion and State Senate hopeful from District 8. Lewis was originally ordered off the ballot on April 26 by New Jersey's Lieutenant Governor and Secretary of State Kim Guadagno due to Lewis' residency requirement conflicts. Lewis has since filed a lawsuit against Guadagno and the State of New Jersey. However, despite Lewis' original removal from the ballot, New Jersey vote-by-mail residents received ballots containing Lewis' name this week, because of the current undecided nature of the suit.[1]
All 120 legislative seats (40 Senate, 80 Assembly) are up for re-election this year.
